Gamers in Europe will get a chance to play the sylvari for the first time at gamescom this year. To properly unveil the new look for Guild Wars 2‘s enigmatic, inquisitive plant race, we’re declaring next week Sylvari Week here on the ArenaNet Blog and on GuildWars2.com. We’ve got a lot to show you and so much we want to talk about, so we’re packing Sylvari Week full of plant-y goodness – read on for details!
Here’s what we’ve got planned next week:
- Monday – Artist extraordinaire Kristen Perry explains how the look of the sylvari has grown and evolved in a blog post full of cool art and character designs.
- Tuesday – Writer Angel McCoy describes how the writing team brings the sylvari to life through dialogue in a blog post that features a load of audio clips from Guild Wars 2.
- Wednesday – Lore & Continuity Designer Ree Soesbee and Kristen Perry discuss the roots and growth of this unique race in a video overview of the sylvari right here on the blog.
- Thursday – We’re updating the sylvari page on GuildWars2.com with new lore, screenshots, wallpapers, and an atmospheric new sylvari video!
- Friday – Ree Soesbee returns with a lore-filled narrative blog post that explores the mysterious sylvari even further.
As you can see, we’ve got a lot planned for Sylvari Week. We’ll see you back here on Monday!
Sylvari week is next week!
It has been confirmed by Martin Kerstein that we will have Sylvari week next week!
To save you all some headache (and ruined keyboards):
– Sylvari week will be next week.
– We will not reveal a new profession during gamescom or PAX Prime.
He also mentioned that we will have Asura week in the near future.
Asura week will be at some time in the future, not before gamescom or PAX.

Future home of my Guild Wars 2 guild!
Welcome to the future home of my Guild Wars 2 guild website! This site will have plenty of info on Guild Wars 2 itself to generate interest and help newcomers become more familiar with the game. I will have many links to tools, pictures, and other websites that contain a limitless amount of information about the world of Tyria!
The site will also have links, information, and forums for the guild that I will be starting when the game launches. As of now, we don’t know when the game will be released and we have zero information on how guilds will work. Rest assured that we will get all of these details and many more in the coming months and many upcoming conventions!
Currently, Guild Wars 2 fans are waiting with bated breath for the start of Gamescon. ArenaNet will be giving us our first look at the newly redesigned Sylvari, PvP, and character customization! Not only that, but we expect to have a Sylvari race week and, if you are overly optimistic like I am, an Asura race week before Gamescon.
So, stay tuned for what is guaranteed to be one of the most epic MMO’s of 2011! (Because i’m also optimistic for a 2011 release. =D)
